(When I opened it up and gazed upon the treasures of my father and grandfather, Then my mind felt the bliss.)

Sri Guru Granth Sahib is our prime source of inspiration for conducting research. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the only Shabad Guru in this universe, touching almost all the aspects of a human life, through the medium of Hymns in the Gurbani. Sri Guru Granth Sahib was compiled by the 5th Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji (1563 to 1606) by collecting the Hymns of the Guru sahibans and saints including those belonging to Hindu and Muslim Faith. This fact makes it a most secular and spiritual Granth available to the humanity. Later on, the Hymns of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji were added to the Gurbani by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1704) to make it definitive version , as it is in the present form. This being the latest Granth available to the humanity, the teachings in the Granth are much more nearer to the today's practical life of a human being, as compared to the age old scriptures. It is the only Granth elevated to the status of a Guru in the year 1708. The Hymns are set to Ragas useful not only in preserving the originality of the composition but also to provide divine experience.
Pearl Buck (a Nobel Laureate) gave the following comments on receiving the First English translation of the Guru Granth Sahib:
"I have studied the scriptures of the great religions, but I do not find elsewhere the same power of appeal to the heart and mind as I find here in these volumes. They are compact in spite of their length, and are a revelation of the vast reach of the human heart, varying from the most noble concept of God, to the recognition and indeed the insistence upon the practical needs of the human body. There is something strangely modern about these scriptures and this puzzles me until I learned that they are in fact comparatively modern, compiled as late as the 16th century, when explorers were beginning to discover that the globe upon which we all live is a single entity divided only by arbitrary lines of our own making. Perhaps this sense of unity is the source of power I find in these volumes. They speak to a person of any religion or of none. They speak for the human heart and the searching mind."
